Reeths-Puffer baseball rips Muskegon to open conference play

Reeths-Puffer cruised to a pair of O-K Green Conference wins against Muskegon Tuesday by mercy rule, 16-1 and 15-0.
The Rocket bats were sizzling throughout the day. In game one, Brendan Guikema got three hits, and Hank Mitchelson, Jack Yonkman and Jaxon Lee each had two. Both of Mitchelson's hits were doubles, and Lee, Yonkman and Guikema each doubled once. Lee drove in three runs with Mitchelson plating two. Paul Smith struck out eight and allowed only one hit and an unearned run in three innings.
R-P (3-1, 2-0 O-K Green) didn't slow down in game two, scoring 11 times in the second inning. A RBI triple by Yonkman got things started, and a parade of walks and singles followed.
Ethan Frang went 3-for-3 in game two, and Tyler Sykes drove in a pair of runs. Sykes and Brayden Meuwenberg split the game on the mound, allowing only one hit between them and combining for seven strikeouts without a walk.
