Reeths-Puffer baseball loses doubleheader to rival Mona Shores

Reeths-Puffer fell to Mona Shores Tuesday in a O-K Green Conference doubleheader, losing a tough game two 6-3 after a 12-1 defeat in game one.
The Rockets attempted to rally late in the nightcap after falling behind 3-0, but Shores kept adding insurance runs. R-P scored twice in the seventh inning and had the bases loaded - Jack Yonkman drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 6-3 - but couldn't get any closer.
Brayden Meuwenberg got two hits for the Rockets in the game, and Connor McManus scored twice.
R-P took the lead in the first inning of game one when Yonkman was hit by a pitch, stole second base, reached third on a groundout and scored on a passed ball, but the Rocket bats were otherwise shut down by Shores' star pitcher, University of Louisville commit Owen Tornga. Tornga and teammate Grady Gawkowski combined on a five-inning no-hitter, with Tornga handling the first four innings. He struck out nine. Shores grabbed the lead in the third with a five-run burst and kept adding on from there.
