Area drivers who use Old US-31 in Montague Township will see slight detours beginning Monday, April 27, as the Muskegon County Road Commission conducts an improvement project that will range from the Skeels Road to Fruitvale Road intersections.
The closure will last for approximately one month, the road commission said, and be a "crush and shape" job, which pulverizes existing asphalt and reshapes the material to be used as a base, followed by two new layers of asphalt.
A posted detour route will be in place for the duration of the project, sending drivers west to Sikkenga Road, which also intersects with Skeels and Fruitvale.
Drivers are asked to follow posted signage and plan ahead when traveling through the area.
