Montague track teams beat Orchard View, Muskegon Heights

Montague defeated Orchard View in a West Michigan Conference Lakes dual meet Tuesday, 82-37 in the boys' meet and 84-43 in the girls'.
Muskegon Heights also participated in the meet, and the 'Cats beat the Tigers 103.5-15.5 and 123-2 in the boys' and girls' events respectively.
The Wildcats did well in the distance running events, winning the four longest distances with four different athletes. Isaiah King won the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.41 seconds, and other winners were Matthew Leatherman in the 800 (2:25.8), Gibson Smith in the 1,600 (5:28.98) and Emerson Hedrick in the 3,200 with a personal best time (12:17.1).
Hunter French swept the two hurdles events for Montague, setting a personal best time of 49.17 seconds in the 300 and adding a time of 23.25 in the 110.
The 'Cats also won both throwing events, with Isaac French winning the shot put (50-1) and Logan Hansen taking the discus (133-6.5). Both marks were personal bests. Isaiah King added a high jump win (5-6), and Devlin Dean set a personal best and won the long jump (21-0).
Montague added two relay wins, with King, Max Dyer, Michael Jones and Wyatt Grawey taking the 1,600 (3:52.3) and Smith, Leatherman, Brock Hunter and Nolan Kessler winning the 3,200 (9:47.2).
In the girls' meet, Addi Smith won both the 100 and 400-meter dashes and set personal bests in both. Smith's times were 13.56 seconds in the 100 and 1:07.8 in the 400. Peyton Sweet added a win in the 800 (3:19.1) and in the 3,200 (17:38.3).
Molly Mulder won the shot put for the 'Cats (28-10) and Willa Van Loon set a personal best to win the discus (71-9.5). Annelyse Schneider won the high jump (4-8).
Montague won three relays. In the 800, it was Gabby Dietz, Jenna Erickson, Schneider and Smith (1:56.7); the 1,600 team of Novalea Cannon, Neviah Davis, Gentry Knop and Cadence Fox won (5:12.9); and in the 3,200 the winning team was Carmen Howard, Davis, Sweet and Erica Hansen (14:12.0).
