Montague scored the final three goals of Friday's game against
Newaygo to score a 3-1 home victory and even its season record at 2-2.
After
a scoreless first half, Newaygo got on the board just a few minutes
into the second. From there, it was the Wildcats' game as they pursued
opportunities to equalize.
Lilly Rice provided that tying
goal, and before long, Ava Crow converted a penalty kick to put Montague
ahead. Rice polished off the win with her second goal of the evening.
"With strong effort across the field and relentless pressure until the
final whistle, the Wildcats capped off an impressive home performance
with a statement win over an unbeaten Lions squad," Montague coach Chris Aebig said.
