Kristian Brown takes medalist honors for Reeths-Puffer golf in first league jamboree

Reeths-Puffer tied with Byron Center for fourth place Tuesday in its first O-K Green Conference jamboree of the season, hosted by Jenison. The Rockets' team score was a 181, 28 shots behind winner Mona Shores.
Kristian Brown enjoyed an excellent performance, shooting an even-par 36 to take medalist honors for the jamboree. Brown chipped in for eagle on the par-5 fourth hole and finished his round with a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole.
"Kristian Brown played outstanding tonight," Rockets' coach Matt Pallett said. "It is fun to see someone enjoying the game of golf as much as he does.”
Beckitt Johnson contributed a 45 for R-P, and if not for some tough luck putting on the greens, Pallett said, his score could have been much better. Jordan Benkert posted a 49 in his first round of the season, making two birdies along the way, and Ian Vokal notched a 51 to close out the Rockets' scoring.
“As a team, we left a lot of shots out there tonight," Pallett said. "I do like the fact that my team really wants to get better, and because of that, we will.”
