Whitehall upset No. 2 seed Fruitport Wednesday, 36-24, to earn a spot in Friday's district final against Spring Lake.
The Vikings defended extremely well throughout the game, said coach BrianMilliron, particularly on Fruitport star Izzy Hanson-Wilbur. Milliron credited Kate Beda and Reese Hesse for their work on defense.
Peyton Schultz had 14 points to lead the team and Clare Westerlund added 10. Emma Decker had six rebounds, and Westerlund posted four steals and a pair of blocks.
