Whitehall baseball routs Hart twice to open season

WHITEHALL — It was a big opening doubleheader for the Whitehall Vikings Tuesday, as they romped over Hart with wins by scores of 14-1 and 16-3.
The Viking bats ripped off innings of four runs, four runs and six runs to start off their season in game one, and Evan Thomas pitched a five-inning no-hitter to get the win. He struck out 10.
At the plate, Justin Jensen, Thomas and Noah Peterson each collected two hits. Jensen's RBI double in the first inning kicked off the scoring, and Emmett Hecht added a two-run double in the second. Hecht drove in four runs, and both Petersons, Noah and Hunter, plated a pair.
It didn't change much in game two, as Whitehall scored seven times in the first inning and, just as it did in game one, ended the contest in five innings due to the mercy rule.
Max Krukowski led another huge game for the offense with four hits (including two doubles), three runs and two RBI. Thomas had two hits and three RBI, Jakobe Monroe had two hits, and Hunter Peterson brought in two runs.
Noah Peterson started and got the win on the mound, striking out six while allowing two runs, before giving way to Brayden Kelley, who struck out five in two innings.
