The Oceana Community Foundation is pleased to announce the hiring of Cindy Bengston as its new Administrative Assistant. Bengston brings a rich blend of experience in education, client engagement, hospitality leadership and cross-cultural communication — skills that will strengthen Community Foundation operations and support its mission to enhance the quality of life in Oceana County.
Prior to joining CFOC, Bengston worked at Pentwater Schools, providing classroom support and helping create an encouraging and organized learning environment for students and staff. Bengston has also served as a hospitality supervisor at Lake Michigan Family Campground, where she coordinated guest services, managed staff and ensured smooth day-to-day operations in a busy seasonal environment.
In addition to her diverse professional experience, Bengston is proficient in Spanish, a skill she developed through extensive time living abroad. This language ability enhances her capacity to support CFOC’s outreach and communication efforts across the county’s diverse communities.
“We are excited to welcome Cindy to the Foundation,” said Tammy Carey, Community Foundation CEO. “Her unique range of experience, dedication to service, and enthusiasm for community-centered work make her an invaluable addition to our team.”
Bengston shared her excitement about joining CFOC: “I’m honored to support the Community Foundation’s mission of strengthening Oceana County. I enjoy working with our donors, partners and community members and contributing to the positive impact we strive for every day.”
Bengston is proud to call Oceana County home. She resides in Pentwater with her husband, Erik, whom she supports in his role as Campground Director at Lake Michigan Family Campground. They also have six grown children that are across Michigan and two sweet dogs.
