Montague dropped its season opening game to Mona Shores Tuesday, 18-7.
Game two of a planned doubleheader was called due to darkness in the third inning with the Sailors ahead 9-3. Because only two innings were completed, that game does not go in the books as official.
The Wildcats grabbed a 3-2 lead in the first inning of the game, drawing three walks and getting an RBI single from Eli Petersen. Cooper Bradley also got a hit in the inning. Dylan Bailey and Cole Herremans each drew a run-scoring walk in the first.
Shores, though, quickly tied the score in the second inning and added six runs in the third to go ahead for good.
Bailey had two RBI in the game and Petersen scored two runs. The Wildcats committed four errors and allowed 13 hits to Shores, including a home run by Owen Tornga.
