Reeths-Puffer finished in sixth place among 16 Division 2 teams Saturday at the Lake Michigan Competitive Cheer Officials Association scholarship invitational, scoring 721.94 points - 45.4 behind first-place Mason.
Montague also competed at the event and finished eighth of nine Division 3 teams, scoring 567.6 points.
The Rockets were sound throughout the meet, not being assessed any penalty points. They had a particularly solid round two, posting 212.04 points, just eight fewer than Mason.
Montague got off to a strong start, scoring 181.3 points in the first round to rank seventh, but sputtered in later rounds, picking up 14 penalty points to hurt its score.
