Montague ended its West Michigan Conference Lakes season Wednesday night with a 43-29 defeat against Manistee.
The
Wildcats (1-20, 1-11 WMC Lakes) started out well on both ends of the
court and had an 11-8 lead after a quarter, but the Mariners stormed
back with a 16-2 second-quarter run to take command of the game.
"The
first quarter was good," Montague coach Nick Thaler said. "As a team we
were moving the ball and
playing better basketball together. I thought our defensive energy for
that eight minutes was what we needed it to be at this point of the
year. We did not shoot the ball particularly well, missed many chances
at the
basket, and were not focused (enough) to do the things it takes to win
in our
league."
Cole Herremans had 13 points and nine rebounds for Montague. Braylen Zimmerman led all scorers with 15 points for the Mariners.
