After weeks of hard work, Montague was finally rewarded with a taste of victory Tuesday night, defeating Oakridge 51-43.
The Wildcats (1-16, 1-8 West Michigan Conference Lakes) led throughout the game and pulled away by outscoring the Eagles 16-11 in the final quarter.
"So
proud of our guys," Montague coach Nick Thaler said. "The record is not indicative of how we are playing,
and we are playing some inspired ball right now. My guys have really
fought hard and keep grinding."
Cole Herremans led the Wildcats with 16 points and Kellen VanSickle added 15.
