Montague finished in seventh place, while Whitehall took ninth, among nine Division 3 schools to compete in Saturday's Grand Rapids West Catholic Invitational.
The Vikings did not take the mat in round three; after the second round they were in fifth place.
The Wildcats hurt their position by accruing 34 penalty points in round two, knocking their score down to just 124.2 points. But for those points, Montague would have been in the running for a top-5 finish. The 'Cats had a solid third round score of 265 points, which ranked sixth.
Whitehall, too, struggled in round two, with 10 penalty points, but had a good round one with 207.7 points, which was less than a point away from third place for the round.
