Whitehall girls wrestlers Manzo, Sapp shine at Lakeview tournament

Whitehall's girls wrestlers had a big day Friday night at the Lakeview tournament, with two of the three earning weight-class titles. The performances were enough to give the Vikings seventh place in the tournament out of 24 schools. Reeths-Puffer finished 16th.
Viking star Kassie Sapp was her usual dominant self at 130 pounds, pinning her first two opponents before edging Hastings' Sara Baker 12-9. Sapp had two wins over top-10 opponents on the day, according to the program Facebook page, and is now 15-1 on the season.
Miley Manzo also won the title at 115, scoring a pin and a technical fall to reach the finals before pulling out a 6-4 decision over Forest Hills Central's Zetta Anderson for the championship.
Makenna DeShong went 1-2 on the day, finishing fourth.
Sidney Shackelford took second place for the Rockets at 155, scoring two pins to reach the finals before falling to unbeaten Aaliyah Langell of Big Rapids. Brooklyn Colson went 3-2 at 125, scoring two pins on the day.
