Whitehall girls basketball stays close with Ravenna, but falls just short of win

Whitehall played a tough game against a strong Ravenna team Monday night, but early offensive struggles kept the Vikings from victory, as they lost 33-25.
Ravenna was fresh off a big win over Hart the previous Friday and shut down the Viking offense much of the game, building a 25-12 lead after three quarters. Whitehall, however, stayed in the game the rest of the way and got as close as four points before falling short.
"We struggled mightily on offense tonight due to Ravenna's pressure and our struggles with our shot, but we were able to rely on our defense to keep us in the game," Whitehall coach Brian Milliron said. "We need to get some consistent scoring from a couple more girls to make a run, but Coach (Emily) MacArthur and I were very happy with their effort tonight."
Clare Westerlund had the bulk of the scoring production, going for 16 points. She also had six rebounds, tying with Peyton Schultz for the team lead. Schultz added six points.
