Whitehall fell behind big early Friday night against Sparta and
couldn't get out of it despite strong effort, taking a 57-42 defeat.
The
Vikings trailed 24-3 after the first quarter. Though they outscored
Sparta from there, they were unable to truly make the Spartans sweat.
The team's 1-of-11 showing at the free throw line helped keep Sparta's
lead secure.
"I thought
we responded well after that...but we dug ourselves too much of a hole
in the first quarter," Whitehall coach Brian Milliron said.
Clare Westerlund led the Vikes with 22 points.
