Third-quarter struggles cost Montague boys basketball a win against Oakridge

Montague came as close as it has all season to a victory Tuesday night, but came up just short in a 53-50 defeat to Oakridge in West Michigan Conference Lakes action.
The Eagles converted a game-winning layup in the final seconds to come away with the win, coach Nick Thaler said.
"We played a very good first half, probably the best offensively we have played this season," Thaler said. "We did not come out with the same energy and detail in the third quarter, and Oakridge took advantage."
The Wildcats led 29-20 at halftime before Oakridge dominated the third quarter, outscoring Montague 20-5. The 'Cats rallied to get themselves into position to get the lead back, but were unable to do so.
Cole Herremans led Montague (0-10, 0-5 WMC Lakes) with 19 points. Logan Hansen added nine.
