Reeths-Puffer split its two games at the Stan Konrad Memorial Tournament over the weekend at the Lakeshore Sports Centre in Muskegon.
The Rockets started their weekend with an 8-5 win over the FNV Griffins, a co-op team among several Saginaw-ara schools. R-P started and finished fast; the Rockets led 4-0 barely six minutes into the game, allowed FNV to rally to tie the score at 5, then scored three more times in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.
Hayden Taylor led R-P with two goals and an assist, and Dom Switzer had a goal and two assists. Eli Cuti and Jordan Benkert each scored once and had one assist. Tyler Cuti, Beckitt Johnson and Connor Anderson each scored a goal as well. Goaltender Cason DeVowe picked up the win and made 25 saves.
The Rockets came up on the short end of a shootout in their second game Saturday, falling to Canton 3-2. Tyler Cuti scored twice early to put the Rockets ahead 2-0, but they couldn't hang onto the lead, and Canton scored the tying goal with 1:22 to go. R-P was unable to cash in on a five-minute major penalty against the Cobras in the third period.
