Board of Education requests community input in search for the next superintendent of Hart Public Schools

The Board of Education of the Hart Public School District is beginning the search for the district’s next Superintendent of Schools. Current Superintendent Mark Platt is retiring at the end of June following 13 years of exemplary service. The Board has contracted with the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) to facilitate the search.
It is the Board’s intent to make this process highly transparent and offer interested persons the opportunity to be involved by sharing their thoughts as to the skills and attributes the next leader should possess. Opportunities for input include:
• Completing an online survey.  This survey will be available from Monday, Jan. 5 through 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16. at forms.gle/SRNswf4Ubv7R11wN8
• Attend a face-to-face meeting with the MASB Consultant on Jan. 12 at the district’s Central Business Office at 301 Johnson St. in Hart.  The schedule is:
Parents/Community 7:30-8:30 a.m.
4:30-5:30 p.m.
Staff (administrators, teachers, support staff, Central Office) 8:30-11:15 a.m.
12:30-2:00 p.m.
3:30-4:30 p.m.
Business owners, civic leaders, clergy 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m
• Attend interviews (March). Those who attend will be encouraged to submit written feedback after each interview.
Please refer to the district website for any schedule changes. In the event of inclement weather or school cancellation, the sessions will be rescheduled and announced on the district website.  Other information regarding the search will be added to the district website as the search progresses.
Please contact MASB Consultant Mark Dobias at mrdobias@gmail.com or (269) 532-0543 with questions or for additional information. The Board of Education appreciates all participation.
