Reeths-Puffer went 1-1 over the weekend at the Bay City Showcase,
defeating Midland Dow 4-2 Friday night and falling to Chippewa Valley
United 7-4 Saturday.
Two goals each from Eli Cuti and Jordan Benkert carried the Rockets to victory over Dow in the Friday game.
The
Rockets led throughout the game, but were able to stave off Dow late
thanks to Benkert's second goal, a shorthanded tally that was
unassisted.
Cuti opened the scoring late in the first period
and put the Rockets ahead 2-1 with a late second-period goal before
Benkert added another one to make it 3-1.
Bear VanDyke made 31 saves in goal for R-P.
The Rockets surrendered four straight goals in the third period against Chippewa Valley, flipping the game's result.
R-P
jumped ahead 2-0 against Chippewa Valley on goals by Dom Switzer and
Hayden Taylor, and Taylor scored twice more to put the Rockets back on
top 4-3 early in the third period. However, Chippewa Valley tied the
score just over a minute later and scored three times in the back half
of the third period.
