Reeths-Puffer closed out O-K Green Conference action on a high note
Thursday with a second-place finish at the league finals in Muskegon.
It was the highest finish of the season for R-P in a league event.
The
Rockets' score of 367 was a season best for 18 holes, and as usual
junior Sophia McCollum led the way. McCollum scored a 77 to claim
medalist honors for the day and also earn the top spot in the individual
conference season standings. She made four birdies along the way.
“Sophia put on another show," Rockets' coach Matt Pallett said. "She has had a tremendous year in a very
tough conference. To end up being the No. 1 golfer in a conference
that has multiple girls going on to play college golf next year speaks
volumes of her year.”
Olivia Ambler also had a strong day,
shooting a 91 to place sixth overall. She made two birdies, and her
season was good enough to pick up honorable mention all-conference. Ella
Voorhies shot a 94, an 11-stroke improvement over last year's meet at
Muskegon Country Club, and Keeley Cole exploded for a 105, slashing her
personal best score for 18 holes by a whopping 14 shots.
“I am impressed with Keeley Cole and her round," Pallett said. "She has not had the
best of seasons but continues to have a positive attitude and continues
to work hard for the team. Her performance today helped us to have a
strong performance.”
