Montague pulled off a big win at Kingsley Tuesday night in the district semifinals, 4-2, to reach the finals for the second year in a row.
The game was tied at two with about 18 minutes to play when Noah Raeth was fouled in the box, giving the Wildcats (5-14-1) a penalty kick. Austin White connected on the shot, putting the Wildcats ahead for good.
Isaiah King had Montague's other three goals in the game, salting away the victory with 84 seconds to go on an 18-yard shot.
"We saw excellent play from all levels of the team, from the forwards, midfield, defense and keeper," Montague coach Brandon Mahoney said. "The bench was loud and excited the
entire match, keeping the field players energized.
"The team is excited to be back in the district finals this year following the team’s first-ever district championship last year."
Montague will face Manistee Thursday in a rematch of a conference game won by the Mariners, 8-3, in September.
