Reeths-Puffer volleyball falls to Caledonia

Reeths-Puffer lost a three-game match to Caledonia Thursday night in O-K Green Conference play, 25-19, 25-15, 25-15.
The Rockets (15-12, 1-2 O-K Green) struggled with passing, according to coach Justin Birr, with one notable exception: Carlee Bowen. In volleyball, a statistic called passer rating evaluates passing success on a scale of 0-3, with anything above 2 being considered very good; Bowen's rating was 2.54.
"I thought she also played well defensively, leading the team in digs," Birr said (Bowen had 14 digs). "And her positivity helped keep our team focused and in the game."
Also for the Rockets, Abby Machinski had a pair of blocks, and Kate Tindall posted 13 assists. Mairyn Peterson led in kills with five.
"Mairyn did a very good job tonight balancing scoring with hard swings and smart tips," Birr said. "Her volleyball IQ continues to impress me."
