Reeths-Puffer defeated Muskegon Thursday night in O-K Green Conference play, 25-14, 25-12, 25-18. The win was nothing new, as the Rockets have handled the Big Reds many years in a row.
However, coach Justin Birr said there were plenty of teachable moments in the win, as his team did not play its cleanest match. The Rockets (12-10, 1-1 O-K Green) had 17 service errors on the night, which Birr said is about double a reasonable amount for a three-game match.
"We
drew up a couple of unique lineups to allow our girls to have a little
fun, but we looked a little uncomfortable throughout the entire night," Birr said, noting he probably should have given his team more time to prepare for the new rotations. "Our girls are very active and engaged in practice, and (Friday) should
be no different. We will come out playing our brand of volleyball once
again on Saturday."
Kate Tindall piloted the offense with 24 assists and also recorded a team-best nine digs. Abby Machinski led the offense with eight kills. Peyton Radel served three aces.
