Reeths-Puffer enjoyed its best performance of the season Friday
posting a season-best score and taking third place of 13 schools.
The Rockets shot a team score of 371. Montague finished seventh with a 395.
Sophia
McCollum had another great performance for R-P, earning medalist honors
with a 78, including a 37 on the back nine. She had a pair of birdies
in the round.
“I was able to witness Sophia’s last four holes of golf today," Rockets' coach Matt Pallett said. "It was an
incredible stretch of golf where she made big shot after big shot. Even
after a not so great shot, she came right back and answered with a good
shot. She has the mental toughness to finish events."
Teammate
Olivia Ambler delivered her best career round with an 86, tying for
fourth place in the individual standings. Ella Voorhies shot a 100, and
Ava Gibbs was R-P's fourth scorer with a 107, a career best.
"This
was a great day for the Rockets," Pallett said. "We shot a team season
best and had three players - Olivia, Ava and Jaylynn (Acre) - shoot
career personal bests."
Montague's day wasn't quite as
positive, though coach Phil Kerr gave his team some grace given that it
was the Wildcats' fifth tournament in nine days. Cadence Fox led the
team with an 87, taking 10th place overall.
Addi Smith added a 99 for Montague, and Marguerite O'Connell shot a 104. Brynlee Kessler's 105 closed out the team scoring.
