Montague and Reeths-Puffer runners competed in a large field of schools Saturday at the West Ottawa Invitational.
The Wildcat boys and Rocket girls earned the top team finishes among the squads, each finishing in 12th place in their races. The R-P boys took 15th, and the Montague girls were unable to score as a team.
Jersi Bilek topped local runners, finishing 19th for the Rocket girls in the race. She had a time of 19:56.3. Darcy Keefe was the second R-P finisher, taking 80th place in a time of 23:04.2. Other scorers were Kaitlyn Durow (82nd, 23:12.3), Charli Belinger (107th, 24:57.4) and Sidney Shackelford (130th, 28:52.3).
Montague finishers were Erica Hansen (99th, 24:24.2), Carmen Howard (106th, 24:57.0), Carlee Gillis (131st, 29:04.8) and Peyton Sweet (138th, 36:18.8).
In the boys' race, Nolan Kessler was the leading local finisher, coming in 49th place with a time of 17:50.1. Gibson Smith placed 69th in a time of 18:56.7, and freshman Wesley Mair placed 78th (19:07.0). Matthew Leatherman was 88th (19:25.0) and Brock Hunter closed the scoring in 90th (19:26.9).
For the R-P boys, Dylan Sturr led the way in 84th place (19:12.6), followed by Gabriel Luna in 101st (19:59.5). Other Rocket scorers included Kyron Novak (109th, 20:38.5), Landon Learn (118th, 21:32.3) and Jonathan Visscher (135th, 23:15.4).
