Montague enjoyed a great showing Thursday at the Big Rapids Invitational, finishing in second place out of 12 schools.
The only team to beat the Wildcats was Division 3 No. 10 Otsego. Montague holds the No. 2 ranking in Division 4, and its team score was 386.
All four Wildcat scorers placed in the top 15, led by top-10 medalists Cadence Fox and Addi Smith, who earned fourth and sixth place respectively. Fox scored a 90, including a pair of birdies, and Smith posted a 94.
Also scoring for the Wildcats were Brynlee Kessler, who shot a 100, and Marguerite O'Connell, who had a 102. Genevieve Reavey posted a personal best score of 114.
"(It was) an early look at the D4 state championship venue," read a post on the Wildcats' Facebook page. "Set up at full state championship yardages, the course provided a tough test."
