Led by another outstanding effort from Sophia McCollum,
Reeths-Puffer had its best O-K Green Conference jamboree score of the
season Wednesday at Caledonia, finishing in third place.
The
Rockets scored a total of 179, led by a two-under par 33 from McCollum
to once again earn medalist honors, her seventh such win of the year.
Even more impressively, one of McCollum's strokes was a penalty stroke.
She had three birdies during the round and set a new personal best for a
jamboree.
“I was curious how Sophia would respond after
having such a great day (at the GMAA)," R-P coach Matt Pallett said. "It
is hard to follow up a great round with another one. She
did just that today."
Olivia Ambler shot a 46 for the Rockets,
improving her score by seven strokes from the same event a year ago.
Ella Voorhies posted a 47 - a 12-stroke improvement from 2024 - and Ava
Gibbs shot a 53, a personal best for a jamboree.
“Olivia and Ella continue to show progress," Pallett said. "They sometimes get
frustrated because they feel and know they can play better. But when you
take a step back and look at where they are, they have a lot
to be positive about."
