Montague volleyball goes 0-3 at season-opening home quad

Montague opened its season with an 0-3 record at Tuesday's home quad meet, facing some high-caliber competition.
The Wildcats lost to larger schools Zeeland East (25-15, 25-13) and Allendale (25-16, 25-14) as well as a close match against a strong small school, Western Michigan Christian (25-16, 17-25, 25-7).
Annelyse Schneider led a balanced offensive attack with eight kills, and four other Wildcats had either six or seven. Schneider also had three blocks.
Gentry Knop had an impressive serving match with eight aces. She also had a team-best 31 digs. Emalee McGee led the team with 23 service points and also passed out 27 assists.
