Reeths-Puffer lost to Grand Haven Saturday, 5-0, in the district semifinals, ending a good season with a 22-11 record.
The Buccaneers avenged last year's R-P district win by shutting out the usually potent Rocket bats.
Grand
Haven jumped ahead early thanks to two walks, a hit batter and a
single. R-P pitcher Lainey McDaniel held the score at 1-0 through four
innings, but the Bucs added two runs each in the fifth and sixth, and
R-P's offense couldn't get much of anything going.
Grand Haven
pitcher Lorelei Chciuk stymied R-P, allowing only one hit and striking
out eight to outduel McDaniel. The junior star struck out nine but
struggled with control, walking six. Olivia Ambler got the Rockets' lone
hit in the game.
