WHITEHALL — Whitehall swept a West Michigan Conference Lakes doubleheader from Fremont Tuesday to improve to 5-2 in the conference (6-10 overall).
The Vikings took the games by scores of 2-0 and 9-4.
Brock Morningstar pitched Whitehall to the win in game one, allowing only five hits and striking out five. Cody Manzo had the game's biggest hit, an RBI double in the sixth inning to provide a key insurance run.
In game two, a six-run fourth inning propelled the Vikings to the win. Nate Betz and Eli Winters each had an RBI single in the inning. Winters had three hits in the game in all, and Betz, Morningstar and Myles Welch each collected a pair of hits. Evan Thomas got the win, allowing two earned runs on six hits and striking out 11.
