Reeths-Puffer track teams 5th at O-K Green finals; Darke, Walker shine

Reeths-Puffer's teams both finished fifth out of six teams at Friday's O-K Green Conference finals meet at Jenison.
Byron Center won both meets; the girls tied with Caledonia for the top spot. The Rocket boys finished two points behind fourth-place Mona Shores.
Rocket junior Mason Darke led the boys' team with wins in both hurdles events. His times were 14.61 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 39.07 seconds in the 300. R-P's other win came from Kamarion Davis, who won the long jump with a personal best leap of 20-9.
Darke and sprinter Marvin Moore were the top point-scorers on the day. Moore finished second in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 22.81 seconds. Moore and Darke - as well as London Rankin - also teamed up to be part of top-3 finishes in the 800 and 1,600 relay races. The trio joined Cole Piper to finish second in the 800 (1:30.9) and raced to a third-place finish with Ethan Rolewicz on the team (3:33.3).
In the girls' meet, Raquel Walker was again the Rockets' top performer. She set a personal best in winning the long jump (18-2) and also finished second in the 200 (26.77). Walker also raced with Addison Mitchelson, Amani Starr and Melana Johnson to take second in the 400 relay (51.61). Jersi Bilek added a second-place finish for R-P in the 800 (2:23.0).
