Reeths-Puffer softball comes up just short in another thrilling battle against Byron Center

Reeths-Puffer came out on the short end of another thrilling battle with No. 5-ranked Byron Center Thursday, losing 1-0 in extra innings.
As in the teams' first game two days prior, the Rockets (14-4, 6-3 O-K Green Conference) were unable to score their courtesy runner at second base in the eighth inning, and the Bulldogs brought her in, scoring on an unearned run.
Lainey McDaniel did all she could for the Rockets, pitching another excellent game with 14 strikeouts and only five hits allowed in 7 1/3 innings. She also got all three of her team's hits, including an eighth-inning single that could have scored the courtesy runner had the Bulldogs not executed a pickoff play.
