Reeths-Puffer's bats came to life Saturday in wins over both Zeeland teams at the Zeeland tournament. The Rockets defeated Zeeland East 8-4 and routed Zeeland West 17-0.
R-P hadn't gotten to eight runs in a game since April 24 against Caledonia.
R-P (6-12) banged out nine hits against the Chix to pick up the win, including two each by Ethan Frang and Holden Earnest. Colton Bessinger earned the win on the mound, striking out six and allowing three earned runs on 10 hits.
The Rockets were scoreless with the Dux until the fourth inning, when they put up seven runs. Cade Paugh's three-run homer was the inning's biggest hit. They also exploded for eight runs in the seventh behind Brendan Guikema's three-run home run and run-scoring doubles by Quinn Alderink, Paugh and Frang.
Jack Yonkman and Alderink each had three hits, and Paugh, Guikema and Frang added two apiece. Brayden Mitchelson threw 6 1/3 shutout innings, striking out five and allowing only three hits.
