Reeths-Puffer dropped a tough battle against local rival Fruitport Tuesday, 5-3, in a tune-up game for the district tournament.
The game went to extra innings before the Trojans pushed across two runs on three hits in the eighth.
R-P (7-13) rallied with two runs in the fifth to tie the game at 3, the last runs either team scored until extra frames. Ethan Frang and Jack Yonkman had consecutive RBI singles in the inning.
Frang, Cade Paugh, Holden Earnest and Quinn Alderink each got a pair of hits in the game. Four different Rockets took the mound in a combined effort, led by Colton Bessinger, who threw two shutout innings and allowed just one hit.
