For the first time this season, Montague got the best of Whitehall
in a West Michigan Conference Lakes jamboree Tuesday, finishing in third
place to the Vikings' fourth in Ludington.
The Wildcats shot a team score of 184, topping Whitehall by six strokes and finishing 15 behind first-place Ludington.
A
trio of top performances carried Montague to the strong finish,
highlighted by a 44 from Tanner Devries, which tied for sixth place
individually. Ethan Balon and Bucky Aney each shot a 45 and tied for
10th; Aney scored a birdie during the round. Maxwell Welch's 50 rounded
out team scoring.
Whitehall was without top player Brady Tate
in the jamboree. Finn Novy paced the Vikings with a 44 to tie Devries
for the best local score. Braedon Bond shot a 45 and Jones McDowell had a
49. Sophomore Rylan Johnson shot a 52 and scored for the team for the
first time this spring.
