Montague golf bests Whitehall for first time in league play at Ludington

For the first time this season, Montague got the best of Whitehall in a West Michigan Conference Lakes jamboree Tuesday, finishing in third place to the Vikings' fourth in Ludington.
The Wildcats shot a team score of 184, topping Whitehall by six strokes and finishing 15 behind first-place Ludington.
A trio of top performances carried Montague to the strong finish, highlighted by a 44 from Tanner Devries, which tied for sixth place individually. Ethan Balon and Bucky Aney each shot a 45 and tied for 10th; Aney scored a birdie during the round. Maxwell Welch's 50 rounded out team scoring.
Whitehall was without top player Brady Tate in the jamboree. Finn Novy paced the Vikings with a 44 to tie Devries for the best local score. Braedon Bond shot a 45 and Jones McDowell had a 49. Sophomore Rylan Johnson shot a 52 and scored for the team for the first time this spring.
