Whitehall dropped a doubleheader Wednesday to Western Michigan
Christian by scores of 16-9 and 10-5. The second game was called due to
darkness after six innings.
The Vikings (6-12) fell behind 4-0
in the second inning of the opener and could never get back in the
game, settling for extending it to a seventh inning by scoring seven
times in the sixth to prevent a mercy-rule defeat. Brock Morningstar's
RBI double capped off that successful inning. He had two hits, and Nate
Betz and Myles Welch each drove in a pair of runs.
The
visiting Warriors got out to another quick start in game two, scoring
seven times in the second inning. Betz collected three more hits and
Jakobe Monroe drove in two runs. Betz threw four innings and allowed one
earned run on five hits, with two strikeouts.
