Whitehall boys track defeats Ludington

Whitehall's boys team defeated Ludington in a West Michigan Conference Lakes dual Tuesday, 86-51. The girls team lost a close matchup to the Orioles, 73-63.
The Vikings effectively spread out their wins, including a couple of athletes taking the top spot in their first time competing in an event. Mason Mulnix ran the 400-meter dash for the first time and won the race in a time of 52.83 seconds, and Corde Anderson got the win in his first 300-meter hurdles race, with a time of 42.97 seconds.
Mulnix also won the 100 for the Vikings, finishing in 11.72 seconds. He joined Stewart Waters and Camden Thompson as two-time individual winners. Thompson set a new personal best in discus with a throw of 145-8 and took the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.35 seconds, and Waters swept the two long-distance races, with times of 4:48.0 in the 1,600 and 10:57.7 in the 3,200.
Ayden Mendoza won the high jump with a leap of 6-5, Hunter Parsons recorded a 10-6 in pole vault to score a win, and Kal Koehler took the long jump with a mark of 20-0.
The Vikings also won the two sprint relays. Anderson and Koehler teamed with Cole Essebaggers and Judd Musk to win the 400 relay in a time of 47.58 seconds, and Thompson and Koehler, along with Tyler Van Antwerp and Andon Palmer, won the 800 relay in a tme of 1:37.0.
For the Viking girls, Aaliyah Jamison swept the throwing events, with marks of 83-8 in discus and 31-7 in shot put; in the latter, she edged teammate Evelyn Darke by just an inch. Jamison also joined Emily Smolen, Ryleigh Hershey and Morgan Wade in the 400 relay to win in a time of 56.64 seconds.
Hershey also won the pole vault for Whitehall, clearing the bar at a personal best 7-0. Lexi Poulin won the high jump at 4-8, and Cami Kraai won the 800 in a time of 2:24.6.
