Reeths-Puffer golf finishes 16th at 32-team Traverse City Central meet

Reeths-Puffer finished 16th out of 32 competing teams over the weekend at the Traverse City Central Tee-Off meet at Crystal Mountain golf course. The Rockets played two different 18-hole courses at the complex over the two-day meet.
R-P's team score of 688 included a 340 on day one and a 348 on day two.
“It was a fun two days, and it is always good to see where the team stacks up against good competition on tough courses," R-P coach Matt Pallett said. "This weekend will make us better. The guys are hungry to get better."
Kristian Brown enjoyed another solid performance for the Rockets, tying for the team lead in scoring on day one with a 79 and leading the team himself with a 78 on day two. Brown made two birdies over the weekend and finished in 18th place individually.
“Kristian Brown played some really solid golf this weekend," Pallett said. "He is not firing on all cylinders yet but really hit a number of quality golf shots."
Aiden Waggoner also had an impressive weekend, shooting a 79 and an 82 and scoring two birdies in his first round. Jamie Neel posted a 92 and then a 90. The three were the only returning Rockets from last year's Traverse City meet and each significantly improved their scores from last season.
Ayden Hartzell only played Friday's round, logging a 90. Kye Grant was the Rockets' No. 4 scorer Saturday, shooting a 98.
“We have really grown in our mental toughness the last few years," Pallett said. "All of the guys persevered through some tough stretches this weekend. In the past some of the tough stretches would have derailed their rounds. They were able to battle and put some good rounds together.”
