Reeths-Puffer's pitching, so good last season en route to
conference and district titles, was big-time again Tuesday, lifting the
Rockets to a doubleheader sweep of Caledonia, 4-1 and 3-1.
Pitchers
Lainey McDaniel and Mady Snyder were both terrific in victories.
McDaniel struck out 14 and allowed only four hits in game one, and
Snyder permitted only seven hits in the nightcap, striking out three.
R-P
(6-1, 4-0 O-K Green Conference) scored three times in the fifth inning
of the opener to expand a 1-0 lead to 4-0. Those runs came on
consecutive RBI hits by Madison Reichert, Abbie Critchett and McDaniel;
Critchett's was a triple. Critchett had two hits and scored twice, and
McDaniel drove in two runs. Reichert got two hits.
The Rockets
scored all three of their runs in the first three innings in the
nightcap. Brook Buchan and Olivia Ambler each had an RBI double in a
two-run second, and Kyleigh Bilek added a run-scoring single in the third.
Caledonia
had the tying run at the plate in the final inning, but Reichert made a
diving catch of a soft line drive at second base to preserve the
victory.
