Montague came away with a couple of high-scoring wins over Grant Thursday, earning 13-10 and 15-13 victories.
The
Wildcats (3-8) put nine runs on the board in the first three innings en
route to the opening win, including a three-run home run by Jocelyn
Rodriguez-Perez in the first. Grant made it interesting in the seventh,
scoring three times and bringing the tying run to the plate with one
out, but Reagan Cederquist was able to induce a line-drive double play
to preserve the win.
Cederquist got three hits in the game,
driving in two runs and scoring two. Gentry Knop, Shoshi Fouser and
Hayden Boutell each collected two hits. Cederquist allowed four earned
runs and struck out five for the win.
A nine-run first-inning
explosion carried Montague to victory in game two. The 'Cats took
advantage of several Grant errors in the inning, and Greta Auch also
laced a two-run double. Grant scored six times in the sixth and once in
the seventh, but again Montague was able to preserve a close win.
Auch
had three hits, two of them doubles, and drove in four runs. Cederquist
added two hits. Boutell picked up the win, striking out three.
