Montague girls track tops Oakridge in dual meet

Montague's girls team defeated Oakridge in a West Michigan Conference Lakes dual meet Tuesday, 98-33. The Wildcat boys dropped the dual by a 90-47 score.
Annelyse Schneider was one of the top Wildcat performers, winning in all four of her events. She had three individual wins, finishing the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:10.95, recording a long jump of 13-4, and leaping 4-9 in the high jump. It was only her second time doing the high jump in a meet and marked a new personal best.
Schneider also helped the 800-meter relay team to victory, joining Amanda Cederquist, Celina Pruitt and Addison Smith to run a time of 1:58.2.
Cederquist and Smith each recorded two individual victories, too. Cederquist set a new personal best in shot put with a mark of 32-6.25 and took the 100 hurdles in a time of 17.69 seconds. Smith won the pole vault with a mark of 8-0 and won the 100-meter dash in a time of 14.08 seconds.
Erica Hansen set a new personal best of 2:57.4 to earn the win in the 800-meter run and also helped win two relays. She ran with Gabriella Dietz, Grace Torsch and Sahara Ware on the 1,600 relay to win in a time of 5:15.4, and she joined Torsch, Grace Reavey and April Howard to win the 3,200 relay in a time of 12:27.8.
Torsch also won the 1,600 in a time of 6:34.7, and Howard won the 3,200 in a time of 16:22.0.
In the boys' meet, distance runners Alix Draves and Nolan Kessler led the way. Draves took the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:04.3 and Kessler won the 3,200 in a personal best time of 10:54.8. Draves also anchored the 1,600 relay team to a win, joining Caleb Lohman, Talan Degen and Wyatt Grawey to win the race in a time of 4:05.4. Draves and Kessler were both part of the 3,200 relay team that won with a time of 9:02.3; Matthew Leatherman and Gibson Sholes also helped the 'Cats to the win.
Chris Evans picked up Montague's lone field-event win, taking the pole vault with a mark of 8-6.
