Montague swept Mason County Central in a non-conference doubleheader Monday, 19-4 and 6-3.
The Wildcats (10-4) ripped off 14 runs in the second inning of game one and walked it off in the third on a Fletcher Thommen RBI single to end the game by mercy rule.
Montague banged out four extra-base hits in game one, including a double and a triple by Cole Herremans. Thommen and Eli Petersen each doubled, and Thommen drove in five runs with Herremans plating four. Eli Pendell got two hits, and Bryton Belinger got a hit and walked three times, scoring three runs. Herremans got the win on the mound.
The 'Cats had a healthy lead for much of game two until MCC scored three times in the sixth and final inning. The Spartans got the tying run to the plate before Remi Lohman induced a flyout to secure the win. Lohman allowed only five hits with no earned runs and struck out five. Cooper Bradley's two-run double and Belinger's RBI double highlighted a four-run first inning; Bradley got two hits.
