Reeths-Puffer finished fifth at Wednesday's O-K Green Conference opening jamboree, hosted by Byron Center. The Rockets weren't that far from the top, though, coming in 18 strokes behind first-place Mona Shores.
Kristian Brown earned medalist honors, shooting an even-par 36 for the nine holes. He birdied or made par on eight of the nine holes, with only a double bogey on his final hole tarnishing a brilliant effort.
“It was great to see Kristian get off to a great start in league play," R-P coach Matt Pallett said. "He has worked tremendously hard to put himself in a position to have a great year. He was disappointed in his first outing of the year, but he really showed how good of a player he has become."
Aiden Waggoner was the Rockets' second scorer, shooting a 43. Jamie Neel followed him with a 46, and Kaeden Benner had a 48.
‘The team was disappointed in coming in last place tonight," Pallett said. "I really feel this team has a lot of upside. We will work hard and I know we will surprise a lot of people on how much we improve this year.”
