Whitehall boys score win at Oakridge Jamboree

Whitehall's boys cross-country team earned its first West Michigan Conference Lakes jamboree win of the season Tuesday at Oakridge, edging Fremont 48-53 for the top spot.
It was a fast course at Oakridge, with several runners earning season or personal best times.
Stewart Waters picked up the individual win for Whitehall with a time of 16:20. Each of the four teammates to join him in the scoring column set a personal best in the race. Hunter Parsons placed fourth (16:50) and Drew Boeringa was ninth (17:04) as part of a strong Whitehall effort.
Rex Pumford placed 15th (17:42), and Tyler Van Antwerp was 19th, blowing past his previous personal best by nearly half a minute (17:55), to cap off Whitehall scoring.
The Viking girls finished in third place, only a point behind runner-up Fremont. Cami Kraai led the team with a fourth-place finish, clearing 20 minutes for the first time this season with a time of 19:57. Adalyn Britton wasn't far behind, placing fifth and setting a new personal best time of 20:19. Also for the Vikings, Corina Mitteer was 15th (22:13), Kassie Sapp was 17th (22:17) and Reese Hesse was 22nd (23:04), with all three setting new season bests.
The Montague boys placed fourth at the jamboree, paced by Noah Raeth, who took sixth place and earned his first sub-17 minute time of the season at 16:59. Nolan Kessler was 11th and had a new personal best time (17:06). Alix Draves finished 16th (17:44) and Bucky Aney 17th (17:45), the latter easily setting a new personal best, with Matthew Leatherman coming in 24th (18:39), also in a personal best time.
Grace Torsch led the Wildcat girls with a 14th-place run (22:02). Following her were Erica Hansen (25th, 23:26), Grace Reavey (28th, 23:49), Lilou Ruch (34th, 25:44) and April Howard (36th, 25:52). Reavey and Ruch set personal best times.
