MONTAGUE — Montague celebrated Youth Soccer Night for its home game
against Ravenna Monday, and the varsity 'Cats delivered a win for their
young fans, 2-0.
Javari Aldridge and Trevor Trevino each
scored for Montague (14-4, 8-1 West Michigan Conference), with Trevino's
goal coming on a penalty kick. Both goals were in the first half.
Montague's
win ensured that the Wildcats' game Wednesday at North Muskegon will
carry high stakes. The two teams are the top two in the WMC standings,
with Montague's 8-1 record leading the conference and North Muskegon in
second place at 7-1-1 following Monday's tie against Ludington.
The
'Cats welcomed over a dozen youth players from the White Lake Youth
Sports Club and the White Lake Breakers teams to greet the players whose
footsteps they're trying to follow. The youth players greeted the
varsity players during lineup introductions and were able to take some
practice shots against JV players during halftime of the game.

Montague's Javari Aldridge runs through a tunnel created by White Lake area youth players prior to Monday's game against Ravenna. Aldridge scored a goal in a 2-0 win.
